Holiday is short for HOLY day. That may offend athiests who don't believe in anything Holy or spiritual. :)

Besides the festivus pole is a tradition Frank Costanza stole from pagans. That dirty Frank! It's just like he stole the "Bro" idea from Kramer and called it a "manzier!"

I can't resist.....

Frank Costanza popularized it but Festivus was around before then.

I remember I was only 5 the first time I pinned may father. Mind you he'd drunk a lot of eggnog.

The next year he was more circumspect with his imbibing and Festivus did not end until March 25th.

I wrote this Festivus song, feel free to use it! Sung to the tune of 'Oh X-mas Tree'

Oh Festivus, oh Festivus, the holiday for the rest of us.

We have our pole, tis tinsel free, and feats of strength, who needs a tree?

Oh festivus, oh festivus, the holiday for the rest of us.....
No gifts required, and nothing sought, no mall trips planned, no bullshit bought,
Oh Festivus, oh Festivus the holiday for the rest of us!

Believe it or not, the holiday was not created by Frank Costanza... It is an ancient celebration or festival. I read that in the book, "Festivus: The Holiday for the Rest of Us"

If the holidays were so Holy why shorten it to Holiday in the first place! Festivus seems more befitting for this season anyways as shopping brings out the worst in people...
